Hereditary Cancer Testing Through Information is Power
HudsonAlpha is collaborating with #NOWINCLUDED to offer the Information is Power testing with Kailos Genetics. All three of these organizations are committed to making genetic information accessible to all. The Information is Power test has been offered in North Alabama since 2015 and continued support from the community is allowing us to expand our free testing opportunities. Information is Power uses the ExpedioTM Hereditary Cancer Screening Service to review 33 genes for genetic mutations that may increase your risk for cancer. You have been directed to this page because you have received a code to claim your Information is Power test free of charge. PLEASE SCROLL DOWN THE PAGE TO FIND THE ADD TO CART BUTTON.
Sample collection is easy and painless. Simply rub the inside of your cheek
with the sterile swab included in the collection kit and mail the swabs
to Kailos Genetics in the provided envelope. Results are released
to you and your physician within two weeks of sample receipt.

Each genetic variation screened has scientific evidence supporting an increased risk associated with breast, endocrine, gastrointestinal, genitourinary, gynecologic, hematologic, nervous system, soft tissue, bone, and skin cancers.

Gain a Better Understanding of Your Hereditary Cancer Risk
These three organizations bring together expertise in genomic technology and communication. Underserved communities suffer from significant health disparities and improved access to healthcare, including genetic testing, is a significant barrier. Our hope is that through this initiative and others we will begin to remove some of the barriers.
Kailos Genetics, in collaboration with the HudsonAlpha Institute for Biotechnology, wants to help the people in our community live longer, healthier lives. We created the Information is Power campaign to empower our friends, neighbors, and family in Alabama with hereditary cancer risk information that can facilitate earlier cancer detection and treatment.
Taking the test is as simple as rubbing a cotton swab across the inside of your cheek--there are no blood draws or needles involved. Simply mail the cotton swabs back to us using the prepaid envelope and your testing results will be available within ten days of sample receipt.
You can contact us directly with any inquiries.
The Expedio™ Hereditary Cancer Testing Service assesses whether or not you are at an increased risk of developing cancer due to inherited changes in your genes. Our test provides your physician with specific information about your genes that can provide great insight into healthcare decisions, such as enhanced screenings, treatments and preventative measures, that may greatly affect your future health and quality of life.
Your physician will receive your results approximately two days before you do, providing them an opportunity to review your test results ahead of time. If a genetic variation is found, your physician will discuss your options with you. You may also be contacted by or referred to a certified genetic counselor to discuss what your genetic variation may mean for your health.
Participants in the Information is Power program receive a clinically certified laboratory-based test that is protected like all other medical information. Patient information is only released to the patient and his/her physician. Data cannot be released without written consent. Our Privacy Policy can be found here.
